Space to be: our evening prayers together

V:        O God, make speed to save us; R O Lord, make haste to help us.

R:        Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning is now and shall be for ever. Amen.

Psalm 130

To be read together

Out of the depths have I called to you, O Lord: Lord, hear my voice.

O let your ears consider well: the voice of my supplication.

If you, Lord, should note what we do wrong: who then, O Lord, could stand?

But there is forgiveness with you: so that you shall be feared.

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits for him: and in his word is my hope.

My soul looks for the Lord:
more than watchmen for the morning, more, I say, than watchmen for the morning.

O Israel, trust in the Lord, for with the Lord there is mercy: and with him is ample redemption.

He will redeem Israel:
from the multitude of his sins.

V:  Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning is now and shall be for ever.

R:  Amen.

Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we, an imperishable. (1 Corinthians 9.24–25)

Followed by Silence

To be read together:

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord: my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour;
for he has looked with favour on his lowly servant: from this day all generations will call me blessed;
The Almighty has done great things for me, and Holy is His name
He has mercy on those who fear Him: in every generation
He has shown the strength of His arm: He has scattered the proud in their conceit
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones: and has lifted up the holy
He has filled the hungry with good things: and the rich He has sent away empty
He has come to the help of His servant Israel: for He has remembered His promise of mercy
The promise He made to our fathers: to Abraham and his children for ever

V:        Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning is now, and shall be for ever.

R:        Amen.

To be read together:

Lord have mercy upon us.

Christ have mercy upon us.

Lord have mercy upon us.

The Lord’s Prayer:

To be prayed together:

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us. Do not bring us to the time of trial
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever.

To be prayed together:

Lord, God almighty, come and dispel the darkness from our hearts, that in the radiance of your brightness we may know you, the only unfading light, glorious in all eternity.
